Kyanite
The name kyanite ("cyanite" in its original spelling) is derived from the Greek kyanos, "dark blue", a reference to its color. Besides blue, kyanite can also be gray to green (sometimes so dark that it appears to be nearly black). Kyanite is also called disthene. The interesting phenomenon of dual hardness is found in kyanite. The hardness along the axes of the crystal is 4 - 4 1/2 and across the axes it is 6 - 7. This variable hardness plus kyanite's perfect cleavage makes it very difficult to cut. Lore Kyanite is thought to aid in all types of communication including that of our dreams. Additionally kyanite stimulates and enhances the natural human ability of foresight. "Kyanite aligns all chakras automatically and immediately, with no conscious direction If directed with the consciousness of the user, it can also open the chakras. Conscious direction of the energy can also align the emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual, ethereal, astral,....bodies" 1 A very agreeable attribute of kyanite is that it dispels anger and brings serenity, the ability to be above it all. "Kyanite is used to embrace love in all its aspects. It fosters a right mind for meditation." 2
