Quartz

Some believe the name is from the German quartz, of uncertain origin; others believe the name is derived from the Slavic word kwardy, "hard".

Quartz is a common mineral that comes in a wide array of colors.¹  One interesting property of quartz is that it is piezoelectric (capable of producing opposite electrical charges when pressure is exerted upon both ends of a crystal)

Quartz has seen many uses down through time. Many peoples have believed this stone has healing powers, today it is considered the most versatile multi-purpose healing crystal.  Quartz is thought to be a protective stone for women and children.  It is used as a meditation stone to help focus intentions and clarify thought.  It is also a cleanser, energy balancer and a psychic amplifier.
