Rhodochrosite
Rhodochrosite in its common stalagmitic form (transparent crystals are fairly rare) was discovered in an ancient Inca silver mine in Argentina shortly before World War II. It came on the market about 1950 and rapidly grew in popularity. The name, rhodochrosite, comes from the Greek rhódon "rose," and chros, "color," a reference to its characteristic color. Also known as "Inca Rose." Lore Even though its modern history has been short, rhodochrosite has developed quite a reputation as a stone for lovers. It teaches the power of forgiveness and acceptance. "Rhodochrosite stimulates selfless love and compassion, aids emotional expression." 1 New Age devotees believe that rhodochrosite can heal the psyche through the release of emotional stress and that it can integrate the emotional, physical and emotional sides of an individual, thus making them whole. "It removes tendencies toward avoidance or denial, and helps one to be willing to both accept and to integrate 'new' information while maintaining a clarity of intellect and a moderate ideal of practicality. It assists one in the re-interpretation of traditional values, allowing for the re-emergence and the re-actualization of the validity of living expression in all situations." 2 As a healing stone rhodochrosite is thought to improve blood circulation and memory.
